Typically, the semen is a thick, white fluid, but it can differ in color & even in consistency. Watery semen can happen due to a low count of sperm, lifestyle factors, and also nutritional deficiencies. World Health Organization defines low sperm count as producing less than 15 million sperm per milliliter of the semen value. Having a sperm with a low count can make it very much difficult for a person to conceive it but does not necessarily mean that the man is infertile. There is no obvious cause for having a low sperm count. Some genetic conditions, like Klinefelter syndrome, can affect a person’s sperm count.

Other causes of low count of sperm can include:
